Autumn/Winter Top Trends

With winter fast approaching your wardrobe is changing. What’s hot and what’s not this season? We have our favourite top trends for this winter!

10139659_Black_476002_001_MainPoncho/Cape

Ever since we watched Cara Delevingne strut her stuff down the autumn/winter 14 catwalk wearing that blanket we have all become a little obsessed with warm, comfortable and now fashionable. It’s what’s being called ‘Winter Wonderland Kimono’, if you loved the kimono during the Summer than this is the perfect follow on for the colder months, what’s not to love about this new blanket wearing trend? This trend first cropped up about 10 years ago and they were very high neck and heavily fringed,  but thank goodness for their stylish makeover which makes everyone want to wear them. The current poncho has more of a cape feel to it and it’s a quick and easy way to add to a outfit. Can be worn both casually and formally, don’t think about it too much and use it as a extra cover up creating a up to date look. This is certainly proving to be the cover up of choice this season. A favourite of ours is from Vero Moda with a winter tribal print!

ka4061-black-fChunky Knits and Turtlenecks

Chunky knits are a must every winter and this year is no different with designers providing tons of styles this season. Wear knits with extra bulk then balance with a slimmer silhouette on the bottom. Turtlenecks and Roll necks have popped up all over Fashion Week and aren’t we glad after hearing this is going to be one of our coldest winters! Glamorous have a simple yet perfect chunky knit that will keep you going throughout the season!

Sparkle/Metallic

Us girls all love a bit of sparkle and this year Sparkle isn’t just for Christmas, we can get away with wearing it all season! Whether it’s a glittery panel on knitted jumpers, sparkle detail on tops or metallic dresses, everyone needs some in their winter wardrobe! A favourite of ours is a thin knit with a glittery back from Saint Tropez, wear in the day with jeans or team with a skirt or black skinnies and heels for a night out!

Offset_Triangle_Pendant_web2-300x300Asymmetrical/Geometric Jewellery

Minimal effort, maximum impact! The chicest way to accessorize this season. If you are a neat freak, you’ll probably want to look away now, because I can promise you none of the jewellery will match or be equal. Asymmetric/Geometric jewellery is big news right now and I for one am hooked. The designs are more exciting, provoking and fun, great for the winter are they add some interest to a simple winter knit!

Leggings

When leggings came back the most recent time, there was a lot of confusion about how we were supposed to wear them. Do you have to cover your bum, how bright and patterned can you go, what shoes are appropriate? Well this year they are making a comeback and this year’s approach is pretty much anything goes (which makes getting dressed way easier.) Leather leggings are a staple these days, but if you’re not a black leather sort of girl then go for a more suede legging which is lovely as well as being one of this year’s biggest trends! Or go for a more adventurous with a bold patterned legging! JDY have a range of funky patterns such as traditional leopard and quirky tartan! This look can easily be achieved with your yoga leggings teamed with high-tops and a long cardigan for a weekend look that’s as cool as it is comfortable!

15112302_Fudge_500592_001_ProductLargeFlannel Shirts

Flannels are the epitome of casual yet cute fall attire, they are an easy to throw on comfortable shirt that will also make sure you are look on point. To go for the lumberjack feel team some skinny or boyfriend jeans and some chunky boots; or pair with skinnies and knee high boots for some girly flare.

22001912_ForestNight_001_ProductLargeAlso not forgetting the men, flannel shirts are also huge for them too! So versatile you can wear day or night and still look just as great! A wide range of these coming in from Only and Sons and Jack and Jones!

Perfect Pre-Fall Looks

As the leaves start to fall and the breeze becomes that little bit crisper, you start to wonder what to wear in the awkward transition between light weight summer outfits and cosy cable knits. So how do you dress in this pre-fall period? There are easy tweaks that you can make to your summer outfits that mean you can dress both seasonally and stylishly!

adddd0fe15a2fe95b215ce8471e552b2The Change of a Dress

Your favourite floral dress doesn’t have to be stored away for the winter months just yet! Why not couple with a light denim jacket and pair of ankle boots to make an effortless transition? Even add a pair of opaque black tights if the weather decides to become chilly. For a more effortless look throw on a lightweight knit over the top of a cute summer dress, so you can feel comfortable while looking great! Remodel your maxis, add a long knitted cardigan to a summer maxi dress or skirt and watch your outfit transform.

Versatile Blouses

A pretty blouse is going to be the piece for AW15 and they can easily be worn in the heat of summer by pairing with denim shorts, however it can be just as easily worn in the early autumn months. Simply swap the shorts with a pair of dark skinnies and add a statement necklace for a different look that fits in perfectly with the tricky pre-fall season. Or for a more feminine look team with a pleated skirt, tights and a pair of knee-high boots.

3_limitless-layeringLayering

Simply layering your outfits can mean you can stretch your summer wardrobe throughout autumn. For example add a black leather jacket and black tights to a white flowing playsuit to add a bit of edge to what you previously wore as a dainty beach outfit in the warm months. A must have layering item for this year is a poncho, this can be worn whatever the weather! Vero Moda vest tops are perfect for wearing on their own in the sunshine, or for layering underneath a lightweight knit. But remember to stick to only three layers, to avoid drowning in too many clothes!

CoatMammoth Coat

A huge upcoming trend for 2015 is big textured coats; these can be worn all year round. Thanks to our temperamental weather it can be added to our summer outfits on those breezy summer evenings for a bold statement. For the colder days add tights and knee-high boots for a show stopping look!

Striking Knits

Going forward, striking out there knits are going to be huge! This may include the pattern or some interesting detail, one of our fave’s is a cut out shoulder detail. These are perfect for now worn with little denim shorts and think tread sandals and then for the winter layer up and pair with equally chunky soled boots! Only and Vero Moda are always giving us a range of affordable gorgeous knits!

bagsAccessorize!

Use accessories to turn your warm-weather basics into outfits fit for the cold. Scarves in brown, camel and mustard can instantly convert your summer pieces to more fall appropriate combinations. For example casually loop a camel coloured scarf around your neck with a light dress, and match with a camel coloured handbag to complete the look. In contrary with these neutral accessorises, wear your bright and bold summer bags to spice up an all-black autumn attire.

The best looks from Met Gala 2015!

The Met Gala took place a couple days ago with loads of celebrities dressing to impress on the red carpet. Sheer dresses were the flavour of the event! This is a trend that we are hoping to see throughout the Summer, perfect for when the sun is shining! Another trend we could see from the A-Listers is nude, many dresses in nude walked the red carpet so ensure you have some key nude pieces in your wardrobe! Red also seemed to pop up quite a few times. Whether you go all out and get yourself a red dress or just go and get a pair of great red shoes or bag, its definitely a colour you need in your life! Throughout all these outfits and trends something that continued to reappear is the split, so make sure you get your tan on so those legs are ready to be baring them this Summer!

beyonce-met-gala-2015All hail Queen B! There is no doubt that Beyonce always looks fabulous whatever she wears but we are utterly in love with her look Met Ball 2015! Most definitely our fave ‘sheer’ look for the night if not our ultimate fave look! None of us could pull off such a risky dress! We are just in awe of her!

The strategically placed gems sparkle under the light and show off her enviable figure! With her pulled back in a simple pony tail, the perfect combination!

Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley-h724A fave ‘nude’ look of the night is from the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who wore a fitted one shoulder structured dress with a few sparkles to really enhance the dress, a great contrast with the nude colour! With a slit up the side to add even more sexiness to her look! Teamed with a scraped back bun and of course burgundy lips a great pairing when wearing nude!

472172484_masterReese Witherspoon turned up in all red and she is a stand out ‘red’ look for us. She has gone with a extremely simple strapless, long fitted dress with a slit and teamed with simple red shoes which we are totes fan girling over! Also paired with a simple silver necklace and matching clutch to finish off the simple yet flawless look!

Iconic Festival Looks

With Coachella having just taken place and Radio 1’s Big Weekend just around the corner festival anticipation has officially kicked off for a Summer of great music and of course fashion! Festival outfits are the best looks to create and the styles can be unpredictable, inspired and are ultimately on point! We are looking back at the iconic looks across the years so we can see those staple items that are must haves this year!

SKINNY JEANS
Skinny Jeans are a menswear staple, so simple. Whatever the occasion, and in this case a festival, the fit is a spot on reflection of your typical indie crowd. This year its all about rip detailing!

alexa-1_3DUNGAREES
Dungarees are a great alternative to a dress and has made a comeback thanks to the likes of Alexa Chung. The model/presenter is a festival regular, and knows how to do things quirkily.

CHECK
Lumberjack shirts are the ticket especially for those cautious of the mud and possible rain ruining their finest wear! Worn over a simple tee, skinny jeans or denim shorts! Perfect come rain or shine!

article-0-1A92D1BC000005DC-5_306x766Bohemian
The boho look is massive for festivals! Wearing crochet dresses, floral prints, tasselled jackets, head bands and hats! A bohemian power couple show how to dress to look their best together. Sienna is known for her crochet dresses and floral prints, while Tom shows how effective a simple tee with a trilby can be.

HOT PANTS & WELLIES
Ever since the iconic stature of Kate Moss rocked up to Glastonbury one year in hot pants and wellies the festival style changed and girls everywhere followed in her footsteps.

PA-daisylowe-nickgrimshawBOMBER JACKET
Nick Grimshaw shows how to pull off this look with ease! Keep the outfit simple and then throw on the sport inspired outerwear to make a statement!

FLORAL GRUNGE
One of the reasons we love festivals is the excuse to clash trends, patterns and colours on purpose and for it to be acceptable! A stand out look is floral dresses, biker boots, denim jackets and not to forget a flower head garland to finish off the look! This was a stand out look for festivals last year!

Pantone’s Top Colours for Summer 2015

When entering a new season it is good to have a palette of colours to work with. It helps see what are the trends moving forward. This means you can be ahead of the game by getting the most on trend colours that suit you! Ensuring you don’t waste any money on new purchases that aren’t going to work out!

Aquamarine

This is a lead colour for this season. Pairing with khakis and contrasting with shades of pink and white to create a gorgeous cool look!

“Cool and calming, ethereal Aquamarine is a shade with a wet and watery feel.”

Scuba Blue

Blue is a very popular colour and there are so many shades but scuba blue presents a softness that will give a feminine look!

“Even though a cool shade, the vibrancy of Scuba Blue adds a splash of excitement to the palette.”

Lucite Green

This is an usual colour and could be seen as very hard to know what to wear! I can see this in blouses and dresses, teamed simple with sandals and denims!

“Fresh and clarifying, cool and refreshing, Lucite Green has a minty glow.”

Toasted Almond

I love this colour it is perfect for a great base for dresses, baggy trousers and tees. The pastel hues will be gorgeous contrast! We are thinking safari inspirations!?

“Timeless and versatile, Toasted Almond is an organic shade that speaks to authenticity and all that is natural.”

Strawberry Ice

A warmer shade of pink that will brighten up your outfit for the Summer, without leaving you feeling too girly!

“Both tasty and tasteful, Strawberry Ice is a confection colour that evokes a feeling of being “in the pink,” emitting a flattering and healthy glow.”

Tangerine

This colour sings fun, playful and sassy! We are seeing dresses and if your brave a jumpsuit in this colour!

“Spontaneous and gregarious, PANTONE 15-1247 Tangerine is a juicy orange shade that is energizing, yet not jarring to the eye.”

Marsala

This is Pantone’s colour of the year! It is very sophisticated and classy feeling to me. “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

Glacier Gray

I was not expecting this one grey could be easily seen as a dull wintery colour, but I definitely get a cool vibe from this shade. We are looking forward to seeing how it looks this season!

“More dominant for men than women in Spring/Summer 2015, PANTONE 14-4102 Glacier Gray is an unobtrusive grey that contrasts and enhances; bouncing off other shades without taking away from them as it slips into the background to allow other colours to take centre stage.”

So these are the colours that we can anticipate for the Summer season! What are we thinking? We are all about the Glacier Grey, Strawberry Ice, Aquamarine and of course Toasted Almond!
